Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water for Murphy Homes
We fit a reverse osmosis system under your sink, with its own faucet for the water you drink and cook with. Every connection is made to plumbing code, including a real air gap on the drain line. Before any of that, we tell you plainly whether your home needs it.

What Reverse Osmosis Does and When It Makes Sense
Reverse osmosis pushes water through a membrane with openings far smaller than a hair. Dissolved minerals, the disinfectant taste and a long list of trace contaminants can't get through, so they get rinsed off to the drain. The cleaned water fills a small storage tank and feeds its own little faucet beside your kitchen tap.
RO serves one faucet. For better water at every tap and shower in the house, look at whole-home filtration instead. If what matters most is the water in your glass, your coffee pot and your ice tray, RO usually fits best, and it costs less than treating every pipe in your home.
The part people skip is the plumbing. An RO unit ties into your cold line and your sink drain. Done wrong, drain water can find its way back toward the system. We install it the way the plumbing code expects, so that can't happen.

What Your RO Installation Includes
- 01
A look under your sink first
We check cabinet space, the shutoff valves and the drain layout before we recommend a unit. Some cabinets fit a tank system fine. Others need a slimmer tankless model.
- 02
Proper air gap and drain saddle
The drain line connects above the trap, and we use an air gap faucet or approved air gap device. That gap is what keeps dirty water out of your drinking water.
- 03
Plumbing connections by a pro
Installations are handled by subcontracted master-licensed plumbers. They make the cold water and drain connections, not a salesperson with a drill.
- 04
Dedicated faucet, mounted clean
We use your sink's spare hole or drill the counter for a new faucet. Granite and quartz get a proper bit and a slow hand.
- 05
Optional line to your fridge
If you want RO water in your ice maker or fridge dispenser, we can run a line to it. Bring it up when we look at your kitchen.
- 06
Flush, leak check and walkthrough
We run the first water through to clear the new filters. Then we go connection by connection with a dry paper towel, looking for any moisture. Before we pack up, we show you how to swap the cartridges yourself.
Questions about Reverse Osmosis?
Call(972) 833-7500When an Under-Sink RO Makes Sense
You keep buying cases of bottled water
A household that works through flat after flat of bottled water can switch most of it to an RO faucet. That ends the trips carrying cases in from the car.
Your tap water has a pool taste
Cities add disinfectant to the water. It's safe, yet some people dislike how it tastes. RO strips most of it from the water you drink.
Mineral spots in the kettle or coffee maker
That white film inside a kettle is left behind by dissolved minerals. RO removes most of them from the water you boil and drink.
Older pipes make you uneasy
When you don't know what your home's pipes are made of, RO gives you an added layer of protection at your drinking tap.
A self-installed unit drips or lacks an air gap
We often find store-bought systems tied right into the trap without an air gap, or patched with tape. We can repair it or put in a replacement done correctly.
How the Job Goes
- 1
First call and water test
Give us a call and we'll pick a day to come out, test your water and open up the cabinet under your sink. You get a water report with your results, so the numbers come before any talk about equipment.
- 2
A plain recommendation
We tell you if RO fits, which unit fits your cabinet and what the install involves. If you don't need it, we say so.
- 3
Permit check
Some cities want a permit for certain plumbing connections and some don't for an under-sink unit. We check what applies at your address and pull it when it's required.
- 4
Install day
Water gets shut off at the sink only, usually for a short stretch. The plumber taps the cold line, sets the drain saddle and air gap, mounts the faucet and places the tank. Your kitchen stays usable the rest of the day.
- 5
Flush and handoff
The first tank or two gets flushed to clear the new filters. We clean up under the sink and leave you a note with your filter change schedule.
What Sets the Cost of an RO Install
No two sink cabinets are set up the same way, so the number comes after we've seen yours. Standard professional installation included for qualifying homes. Your quote, given by phone or in person, covers the unit and the labor, with each part listed on its own line.
- The system you choose
- Tank models are the simplest and usually the least expensive. Tankless units with a built-in pump cost more. Adding a stage that puts a little calcium and magnesium back for taste also raises the price.
- Your countertop
- Using an existing sink hole is simple. Drilling through stone takes more time and the right tools.
- Extra lines
- Running RO water to a fridge or ice maker adds tubing and labor, more so if the fridge sits far from the sink.
- Cabinet and drain condition
- A corroded shutoff valve or a tired drain trap should be replaced before we tie into it. We show you what we find and let you decide.
- Permit, when required
- If your city requires a permit for the work, the fee and any inspection time are part of the quote.
Reverse Osmosis Questions We Hear
Does reverse osmosis waste a lot of water?
It does send some water to the drain while it filters. Newer units waste much less than older ones, and some models use a pump to cut it further. We can show you the numbers for each unit we recommend.
How often do the filters need changing?
Pre-filters usually get swapped about once a year, sooner if they clog up. The membrane holds up longer, often several years. How long it goes comes down to what's in your water and how many gallons you draw from that faucet. We leave a written schedule so you don't have to guess.
Do I really need a permit for an under-sink unit?
It depends on the city and on what connections the job needs. We check the local rules before the install and handle the permit when one is required. Either way, the work is done to the plumbing code, with a proper air gap.
What warranty comes with it?
We back the install with a 1-year workmanship warranty on installation-related defects. The manufacturer warranty covers 5 years on valves and 10 years on tanks. If a connection we made starts to drip in that first year, call us and we'll come take care of it.
Will RO water taste flat?
Some people notice it tastes very clean, almost too plain. A remineralizing stage adds a bit of calcium and magnesium back. We can let you know if it's worth it for you.
Should I get RO or whole-home filtration?
RO is for drinking and cooking water at one tap. Whole-home filtration treats every faucet and shower. Some homes get both, and some only need one, which the water test helps sort out.
